Videos: Using AI Apps to Generate, Edit and Transcribe Videos Faster and Cheaper

Learn how AI-powered video tools can help you create engaging e-learning videos faster and easier. Explore four examples of AI-enhanced video tools and their features.

Creating videos for e-learning can sometimes feel like embarking on a meticulous journey. This process comes with its own set of challenges, including:

Time and Resources

Crafting visually appealing videos requires an investment of time and resources. From scripting to filming and editing, the process is often expensive and time-consuming.

Content Updates

As content evolves, keeping videos up to date can be a challenging task. Each update often means revisiting the entire video production process.

Expertise

Not all instructional designers or educators possess the technical skills required for video production, which can lead to a reliance on external professionals or training.

With all that being said, it’s only fitting that we explore how AI has emerged as a powerful ally in addressing these long-standing challenges.

Elevate Your Videos with AI

AI has emerged as a game-changing solution that addresses these challenges head-on.

1. Lumen5

Lumen5 video software is a powerful tool that allows anyone to create professional-looking videos with ease.

Whether you want to import your own content or start from scratch, it provides a fast and efficient way to transform your content into engaging videos, with its comprehensive library of videos, photos, and music assets along with pre-designed templates.

To generate your own Lumen5 video, you simply input any pre-existing content on the text box and let Lumen 5s’ AI work.

You can tweak the video as you see fit, changing the duration of the screens and the color scheme. Bear in mind that larger edits, like adding your company logo or changing the colors to your brand, might require you to purchase a Lumen5 basic tier or above.

This is Lumen5.

Just load your script and let it’s AI work it’s magic. Then, you can add the fixes you feel are necessary.

To showcase Lumen 5’s abilities, we leveraged our content from the series of blogs made previously and made a presentation-style video on the topic of ‘Managing Work-Related Stress and Burnout.’

2. Runway Gen2

Runway provides numerous features and options, but its effectiveness depends on how you prompt it. It may require some trial and error to achieve your desired results.
By far, some of its most impressive video creation abilities are the following.

Image to Video: You can simply place an image in the prompt box and let Runway work its magic in bringing the still picture to life.

Text to Video: With this feature, you can easily create a video through your imagination alone.

It’s good to note however, that Runway Gen-2 is still in beta, so there is a learning curve when it comes to creating content exactly how you want it.

For this case study, we took a break from the continuing theme of managing stress at work and diverted to making a video for another course.

We attempted to generate a video of a robot in a dress through both tools.

a) Text to Video

For the text-to-video format, we simply prompted the following and got the generated video:

A robot in a lovely metallic dress

b) Image to Video

And for the image-to-video format, we simply used an image we generated using Midjourney and ran it through Gen 2.

This was the result:

3. Synthesia

Synthesia is a tool that allows you to create training videos without the need for a camera crew or actors. With a library of realistic avatars to choose from, you can match the avatar’s voice with your script. Apart from that, you can easily translate the text into different languages too.

While the avatars have their limits and may not be a complete substitute for human actors, they still offer value and serve as a cost-effective solution to hiring a film crew and renting a film set.

To show you the capabilities of this tool, we made a video for a course.

4. D-ID

Finally, we move on to the last tool on the list.

D-ID is an AI software that can transform still images into animated talking avatars. It harnesses the power of deep learning and AI technology to animate faces in images, making them seem almost real. Animate your pictures and add your own script without any recording at all.

To show you what it is capable of, we created a few videos for a conference in replacement of our real-life speaker and as examples of a showcase of this tool.

Check out those videos here.

Having explored all of these tools, you can now decide which tool is the best for you depending on your primary usage.

Now you’ve boosted up your video creation abilities and it did not even take that long!

AI's Hiccups in Video Production

While AI really amps up the video creation process, it’s essential to acknowledge its limitations too.

Here are some aspects where we still need to ensure the videos are up to standard.

Can’t Meet All Expectations

Despite advancements in AI, it is still far from perfect and can sometimes produce videos that fall short of our desired quality.

Limited Emotional Connection

AI-generated videos may struggle to convey emotions effectively, such as empathy or humor, which can impact the overall experience.

Initial Investment

Implementing AI-powered video creation tools can be costly, requiring a significant initial investment, but could still be less costly than manual video creation.
